Jacksonville Jaguars Regular Season Predictions

We are less than a week away from NFL football being back at Everbank Stadium so It's time to lay my reputation as a Jaguars expert on the line. I'm going to predict every game on the Jags schedule and pick a team MVP. Let's get into it:
Week 1: Jaguars 27 vs Panthers 10
Jacksonville will be at home with a roster that should simply be far more talented than Carolina. The Jaguars pass rush should be able to control this game and make life difficult for Bryce Young and the Carolina offense. I like Jacksonville to go up a few scores early then control the game running the ball and racking up sacks. Give me the Jaguars with a 17 point win and Josh Hines-Allen with 3 sacks out of the gate to break the Jaguars career record for sacks.
Week 2: Jaguars 34 @ Bengals 37
I don't love a new defensive scheme getting tested week 2 against the best receiver duo in the league, after it wasn't tested at all by a much less talented offense the week before. This could be the year the Bengals come out hot and it wouldn't shock me if it was against Jacksonville. The Jags offense should have no problem keeping pace against what's projected to be one of the worst defenses in the league but I have them falling short in a Bengals home game by 3.
Week 3: Jaguars 24 vs Texans 20
Give me a fired up Trevor Lawrence getting just his 3rd win against a division rival that he's typically struggled against. After being knocked out of his last game against the Texans because of a very late shot I expect Lawrence to both run and pass for a TD as the Jags escape with a hard fought win at home.
Week 4: Jaguars 21 @ 49ers 30
West Coast trips usually don't go well for the Jags and I think this game could end up the same way. This 49ers team will be much better than people think especially on the offensive side of the ball. I expect the Jags offensive and defensive lines struggle against the more veteran lines of the 49ers. Plus this early in the season makes the chances of seeing a healthy McCaffrey much higher. Jags drop one on the road to a sneaky NFC playoff team.
Week 5: Jaguars 17 vs Chiefs 19
Both defenses show up big in this one on a Monday night in Jacksonville. Give me a 10-16 ball game at the start of the 4th with Jags taking a late lead but giving up a controversial penalty leading to a game winning Chiefs field goal. Just feels right doesn't it?
Week 6: Jaguars 31 vs Seahawks 17
This next stretch starting with Seattle is where I think the defense could get hot and win them the next three games. Sam Darnold in an early game on an east coast trip in Jacksonville feels like a situation the Jags pass rush could thrive in. I think the Jags get 5+ sacks along with 2 INTs and a defensive touchdown.
Week 7: Jaguars 29 vs Rams 22
The Jaguars experience in London games helps them here as they come out hot against the Rams early. Couple that with the fact the Rams might not even have a healthy Stafford for that game. He's been battling injuries for most of the preseason and it wouldn't shock anyone if that carries into the season. The Jags edge rushers again control the game with 3 or more sacks and a fumble recovery.
Week 8: Jaguars 38 vs Raiders 24
I like Jacksonville to cap off a solid 3 game win streak with a blowout over the Raiders. This is another bad offensive line with a QB that would prefer to hold the ball an extra beat. The Jags running game gives them the edge early in this one as both Ettiene and Bigsby go over 100 yards from scrimmage in this one.
Week 9: Jaguars 14 @ Texans 23
I have the Jags winning streak ending in Houston where they run into a stout Texans defense. Lawrence has struggled against Houston historically and until he proves that's over I'm comfortable taking Houston to take this one at home. They should have a top 5 defense in the league and sometimes that just wins you a game.
Week 10: Jaguars 31 vs Chargers 20
This one might shock some people but I'm going Jags here easy. Give me the weapons and the run game of Jacksonville against a beat up Chargers team that has to make the East Coast trip. Trevor Lawrence improves to 3-0 all time against Justine Herbert and throws 2 TD's to tight end Brenton Strange in this one.
Week 11: Jaguars 35 @ Cardinals 17
The Jags get their biggest win of the season against a struggling Cardinals team. Jacksonville has the better roster in a landslide and I don't see a world where they aren't a top 5 pick contender. I don't think the supporting cast is particularly good around Murray and Lawrence should be able to feast on this defense. Jags should win big here and start to appear in most top 10's of everyone's power rankings.
Week 12: Jaguars 24 @ Titans 27
I think after a comfortable week last week the trip to Tennessee catches up to them. The Titans could be a very sneaky trap team this year with Calvin Ridley at wideout and Tony Pollard in the backfield supporting rookie Cam Ward. I had the Jags at 4-2 in the division this year and I think the Titans will have a much better year than the Colts. Jaguars stumble here and lose after a failed onside kick.
Week 13: Jaguars 34 vs Colts 21
Indy coming to Jacksonville a week after dropping a game to the Titans. Forget about it. I'm taking the streak to continue with either Daniel Jones or Anthony Richardson struggling at a very hostile Everbank Stadium. Give me two Tank Bigsby touchdowns and an important W in a tight division race with the Texans down the stretch.
Week 14: Jaguars 23 vs Jets 17
The Jets defense could keep things close in Jacksonville but I still have the Jags roster just a tad better and that's the difference. Jaguars run game and secondary are the biggest factors in this one. I think Justin Fields will struggle against tight Jaguars coverage and the run game can make just enough plays in this one to push Jacksonville ahead.
Week 15: Jaguars 24 @ Broncos 31
The Denver Broncos are going to be very hard to beat this year and I have a hard time seeing the Jaguars getting it done in Denver. I have Denver as the best defense in the league and a top 10 offense. The coaching experience in this one will lean pretty far towards Sean Payton and his staff. I think that's just too much to overcome in this one.
Weak 16: Jaguars 28 @ Colts 17
Give me the Jags completing the season sweep of the colts and moving to 3-2 in the division. The Colts could be reeling by this time and the Jags might really need this game in a tight division race. The Jags take care of business against the divisions worst team.
Week 17: Jaguars 22 vs Titans 19
The Jaguars walk it off against the Titans, move to 11-6, and win the division. A hard fought field goal fest sees Cam Little hit a 55 yarder to win to win it. No team ever seems more motivated to ruin a Jaguars season than the Titans but I have the boys in Duval overcoming the odds and moving on the playoffs in Liam Coen's first year at the helm.
Final Record Prediction: 11-6
With the weapons the Jags have on offense and the depth of the defensive line improving a ton this year I have the Jags at 11-6 and much improved team over last year. I think new HC Liam Coen's scheme will greatly benefit Trevor Lawrence. It's a very favorable schedule that doesn't feature many great offensive lines or elite defenses outside of Houston and Denver.
Team MVP: Travon Walker
Any man that can put up double digit sacks on last seasons Jacksonville defense is a man not to be trifled with. Travon Walker has gotten better every season he's been in the league and I don't see that stopping. I think Walker is quietly becoming one of the best defenders in the league that no is talking about. I have Walker with 14.5 sacks this year leading the Jags and being the most valuable piece of a defense that finishes the year as a top 10 unit.
